Show A postcard photograph of Sally Rice Snow standing in front of the Presbyterian chapel in the Village of Shem of the Shivwits Agency in Santa Clara, Utah. Sally Snow is wearing a plaid skirt and a light colored blouse. Wrapped around her head and tied at her chin is a dark colored scarf. She stands next to a bare tree trunk of a bowery. Sally stands next to a bare tree trunk of a bowery. On top of the trunk appears to be a mass thicket of bare twigs and branches organized in what looks to be a nest. Far in the background is the church. It is light colored with three windows built into the side. And affixed to the top is bell turret. To the right of the chapel is a stone structure which appears to be a house. The ground between Sally and the two structures is dirt and rocks. Trees stand in back of the two structures. |
| Further Information |
This postcard is in good condition. There are no marks on the front and the edges show slight wear. Imprinted on the back, in black ink, is "Post Card," next to "AZO [encircling] Place Stamp Here" in the top right hand corner. The back is separated into two sections by two format headings. The heading on the left is "Correspondence," the heading on the right is "Address." Written in fading black ink is the following: "Photo May 20th 1920 [,] Our Presbyterian chapel and [?] Village of Shem Shivwits Indians Agency Santa Clara river. Washington Co. Utah[.] The woman is old Sally Rice Snow, married Sam Snow, son of Old Snow." In heavy black ink, written diagnolly, is, "Please Return to Love Lady [?]." Penciled vertically at far left is, "F - 5." |
