The University of Utah golf program stayed consistent today in high winds at the Bandon Dunes Championship, shooting 6-under as a team in the third round to place fifth overall in the tournament. The Utes sat in a tie for 10th place after the first day, but rallied back in the final round with four players shooting under par. Utah finished the tournament shooting 8-over as a team (860). Utah's top team finisher for the tournament was junior Tristan Mandur, who shot 1-under in the final round (70) and even for the tournament (213), to finish tied for 12th overall. Mandur's top-15 finish was his third of the season. Junior Blake Tomlinson was outstanding today from start to finish, shooting 3-under for the day (68), shooting even at 11 holes with five birdies. He finished the tournament shooting 2-over (215) to move up 28 spots to tie for 21st with his low round tying for his lowest of the season (68 at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate). Senior Mitchell Schow moved into a tie for 31st overall after shooting 1-under in the third round (70) with no bogies. He finished the tournament shooting 3-over (216), moving up 10 spots between the second and third rounds for his top-35 finish. Rounding out Utah's lineup was Javier Barcos and Colton Tanner, who both improved on their scores from yesterday. Barcos finished in a tie for 47th after carding 1-under in the third round and 7-over for the tournament (220) with Tanner tying for 54th after shooting 2-over today and 9-over through all three rounds (222). |
