Although the nematode Ascaris lumbricoides is a common cause of systemic infection, it almost never causes ocular or CNS manifestations. Nevertheless, Peter and colleagues reported delayed ventriculoperitoneal shunt infection caused by abdominal complications of infestation by this organism in two children in South Africa. |
