Description |
W. E. Criddle farm, Morgan County, Aug. 9, 1938. In this area the crop rotation system is used with alfalfa the main crop for 5-6 years with cabbage, beets, peas for 1-2 years each. These farmers usually have contracts with canning factories for their crops, so they only plant enough to fulfill the contract. This accounts for the small sixe of the patch. The field is on contour and is irrigated from a canal running in the brush to be seen in the lower right corner of the print. The field crop is about 5%. Gift of N.A. Soil Conservation Service. |
