Optic neuropathy following cataract surgery has been reported at least as early as 19461, with most early series from 1951-1973 describing onset of optic nerve dysfunction weeks to months after surgery2-6. The specific cause of the optic neuropathy in these reports was unclear, with 'optic neuritis' cited in some, and simply 'optic neuropathy' in others. |
