Security alerts/concerns - Dan Hutten for Steve Scott Slammer is still the most commonly encountered network threat observed by IBM ISS' Managed Security Services. In fact, (depending upon which statistics you choose to use) there are probably more hosts currently compromised by Slammer today than there were when everyone thought the Internet had gone in to melt-down mode way back in 2003. The storm worm was named after it's social engineering attempt to capitalize on one of the greatest Winter storms of all time in Europe during early 2007. Folks were invited to click on breaking news items and with the new e-card variants the Nuwar worm has grown to become the most significant email virus of all time (both in terms of email volume and malicious capabilities. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fm9ikZs5o38
