Description |
Early in 1972, the Planned Parenthood Association of Utah (PPAU) set about to establish a family planning clinic in Clearfield, Utah, and one in Bountiful, Utah. Both communities resisted PPAU efforts and eventually succeeded in forcing PPAU out of Davis County before it managed to gain a foothold. The first section of this paper is an analysis of this conflict situation and is based on interviews, pertinent literature, and two local studies of attitudes toward birth control.; The last section examines one of the main motivations underlying resistance to birth control clinics in Davis County: fear of increased premarital and nonmarital sexual activity on the part of minors. The information presented in this section is based on interviews and relevant literature. |
