Child Company is a preschool and child care center located at 2007 South and 1300 East, in Salt Lake City. It opened for business on April 2, 1984. It is licensed by the State of Utah for 52 children ages 6 weeks to 6 years of age. It is owned and operated by Clayne and Tracy Corey who started caring for children in their home in October 1982 and then moved to the present facility in 1984. Child Company operates with fourteen full and part time employees in addition to the management. The business is filled to capacity with children and has developed a reputation as an excellent child care facility. This project was undertaken to analyze the present accounting information system and make recommendations for implementing an accounting information system that will serve the needs of Child Company management. The main portion of the project will deal with the determination of accounting information system requirements that apply to Child Company operations. After defining the problems in the present system, determining specific requirements for a new system, and assessing the feasibility of implementing the new system, an evaluation of alternatives and recommendations for the design and implementation of the new system will be made. |
