Title Circular staircase inside the St. George Tabernacle

Description Circular, self supporting stair case, St. George Tabernacle. The stairs were designed by Miles Romney, the architect. The stairs ave in addition to the regular outside supports, inside suports, spaced about 18" apart and the cross-pieces on them are 4"X8" and fastened into the side supports with lock wedges. After drying (being steamed before the wedges were put in) they had cow heel glue poured into them. The tabernacle was completed in 1869.
