The steel buildings, assembled over the unexcavated Quarry surface in 1979, were an important addition; because they afforded protection from both vandalism and the weather. They were long overdue improvements making it no longer necessary to re-excavate the quarry at the beginning of the field season and then cover it again at the conclusion of work in the late summer.
