Description US Army Foot Soldier's personal photograph of soldiers capturing German soldiers, March 1945.
Abstract US Army Foot Soldier's personal photograph of soldiers capturing German soldiers after capturing a German town, March 1945. The photographer, Phil Andersen, wrote "Most of the time, there was little opposition. Something that I will never forget as we entered the towns was the sight of white cloths waving out of windows and doors to signal surrender. There were sheets, handkerchiefs and white pieces of clothing. I saw many German soldiers with white flags stuck on the top of their rifles. German officers surrendered left and right."
