Description Scan of a typed transcript of the journal of John Hamilton Morgan, covering the period May 18, 1886, to December 22, 1886. Also includes an outline of Morgan's life, a handwritten copy of a Deseret News article of San Luise Stake, and a typescript with title: "The founding of Mormon settlements in the San Luis Valley, Colorado" by Andrew Jenson. Morgan served as a missionary and head of the Southern States Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He arranged for the settlement of a group of converts to relocate from the South to near Pueblo in the San Luis Valley of Colorado. He also served on the Church's First Council of the Seventy
