Note the mesothelium of the visceral peritoneum covering the splenic capsule. Some of the pink streaks among the blue-stained collagen fibers in the capsule and trabeculae are elastin fibers and a few smooth muscle fibers may be present. Sinusoids are present in the red pulp.
