Abstract M. Donald Thomas (b. 1926), the son of Italian Immigrants, born Mario Donato DiTommaso, recalls his childhood and education, culminating in his Ed.D., prior to coming to Utah where he served as superintendent of the Salt Lake City School Board. He discusses his innovations in educational administration, particularly his concept of shared governance of schools. Of particular interest are his recollections regarding the politics and personalities he dealt with during his Salt Lake School Board tenure, 1970s-1980s. Interviewer: Fred Buchanan
