TERRY CHARLES MCCULLOM GEORGE FARRIER - March 16, 1953 My Dear Aziz I was very pleased to receive your fine letter of March 2nd, and wish to apologize for my delay in replying. However upon ray return to New York, after a few days I went to bed with the flu and was in bed for almost three weeks and then this last week I have been down in Washington and so this is the first minute I have had to reply to you. I will take up your letter point by point. First let me say how grateful I am to you and Mrs. Atiya for the wonderful time you gave me during my brief visit to Cairo. You made me feel very much at home, and I believe we laid the ground work for a great deal of future good work together. Number 1. Thank you for the two prints of the picture taken with General Naguib. I am very grateful to you for thera. This last week I had a very long and enjoyable visit with President Eisenhower in the White House in Washington. I presented the very wonderful picture from General Naguib to President Eisenhower and needless to say, President Eisenhower was extremely pleased. President Eisenhower is sending an autographed picture of himself direct to General Naguib, through the American Ambassador in Cairo. In addition, President Eisenhower gave me a very fine letter addressed to General Naguib, which he asked me to present to General Naguib personally, along with his best wishes when I return to Cairo. Number 2. Thank you for the Geographical Society membership letter and card, which will look very nice on ray wall. I am grateful to you for the excellent wording of the Certificate. Number 3. Concerning Commander Wendell Phillips Dodge, you say I should send a signed application. I do not have any signed applications - do you mean a letter? If there is an application to be filled out, if you will send it to me, I will then have Commander Dodge sign it and fill it out, and send it directly to you. It is important that we put through Commander Dodge's membership as soon as possible, and I*d be grateful if you would handle this. Number 4. Thank you for paying my subscription to the Society, and Eileen has taken care of the dues for 1953 for the Mediaeval Academy which you sent through to me.
