Show UNIVERSITY OF UTAH SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH ALBERT RAY OLPIN PRESIDENT June 3, 1964 Dear Doctor Atiya, Although I have told you personally of the action of the Board of Regents at its last monthly meeting when it approved my recommendation that the collection of papyri, books, magazines, etc., which has come to the University of Utah through your generosity and industry be known as the "Aziz S. Atiya Library for Middle East Studies," I want officially to make this a matter of written record, hence this letter. You have made a great impression on the regents of the University, as you have on those of us who have worked closely with you. It is fitting, therefore, that your name be perpetuated in connection with the program of study you have developed here and the resulting interest in Middle, Eastern culture. You, Lola, and your children have always extended yourselves beyond the call of duty to contribute to the community. Too often we fail to express our appreciation for the friendship and services of those about us. It was for this reason that I asked the Board to establish the "Aziz S. Atiya Library for Middle East Studies" while I was still in office as president. At some appropriate time, when we are all less rushed, we should consult with the librarian regarding a suitable book mark or other means of identifying the items in this Middle East Library. Very sincerely yours, Dr. Aziz S. Atiya Director, Middle East Center Building 41 Campus P I T"-~" ^ j •.--..--.. "**"|pr #^ |
