Description Benserade de, Isaac (1612-1691) Suivant la copie à Paris, Chez Charles de Sercy, au Palais, au sixiéme Pilier de Grand'Sale, vis-à-vis la Montrée de la Cuor des Aydes, à la bonne Foy conronné, 1698 Isaac de Benserade, French poet and member of the inner circle of the court of Louis XIV, is best known as the librettist for the king's ballets. By 1681, Benserade had choreographed twenty-four ballets de cour, including one with music composed by Jean-Baptiste Lully. Benserade also composed court masquerades. Together with Pierre Corneille, he was considered one of the leading French poets of his day.
