A comparative analysis of folk musician Utah Phillips's two performances, one in Philadelphia, the other in Utah, this study examines the relationship between performance strategy and audience response. It draws the conclusion that during the course of the performance, performer and audience become "conditioned" to each other, and the performer is continuously adjusting his strategic presentation to suit the situation. |
