Title Some early pleistocene deposits of the lower Omo valley: the Usno formation
Date 1969
Description Early Pleistocene deposits of the Rudolf Basin have been described by E. Brumpt (Bourg de Bozas, 1903: 107 ff.), Arambourg (1943: 190 ff.), Fuchs (1939), Patterson (1966), and Butzer and Thurber (1969). These include the Omo Beds, first recognized by Brumpt in 1902 and subsequently studied by Arambourg in 1932-33. Located to the northwest of the Omo Delta, the Type Area of the Omo Beds was subject to intensive restudy and stratigraphic revision by Brown in 1966, by C. Arambourg, Y. Coppens and J. Ghavaillon in 1967-69, and by the writers in 1968-69.
