Description During 1965 and 1966, I worked as an assistant to Vice President Hubert Humphrey and, in addition, participated in a program that permitted 15 young men to enjoy informal suppers and extended off-the-record chats with the President in the White House, attend frequent sessions with the Vice President and each Cabinet officer, receive top-level briefings by representatives of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Central Intelligence Agency, spend afternoons and evenings with leading Congressmen and Senators and participate in analyses of foreign and domestic policy with Ambassadors, scholars and even critics of the Administration.
