Biographical Note/Historical Note +/-Alvin Charles Emerson (1859-1926) was a son of Judge Philip H. Emerson, who was active in the Liberal Party. Alvin was born in Vermont, but moved to Utah in 1880 and worked as a clerk in the 1st District Court. He married Mary Martindale in 1882. During the 1890s, Emerson ran the Acme Printing Company, which did job printing but also dealt in textbooks for Ogden schools, and was a member of the Ogden School Board. From 1900-1916 he was chief clerk for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Ogden. After that time, he was in the insurance business.
