Description Image shows the meetinghouse where bodies were prepared for burial after a mine explosion. The boarding house, meetinghouse, school, and barn were cleared out and used as receiving and washing rooms for the bodies. To the left was John Pitman's residence.
Comment Winter Quarters was an old mining town near Scofield in Utah's Carbon County. The town is now a ghost town, but is most remembered for a huge explosion in 1900 that lead to the death of nearly 200 miners.
