Subject Civilian Conservation Corps (U.S.)
Description Historical Site Analysis moved to a nearby, local park, stabilized, rehabilitated, and reused for public benefit and education. This alternative offers quality over quantity in terms of historic value. Cost associated with this alternative will be at least $30,000 to move, stabilize and rehabilitate the structure. Costs to remove the remaining buildings will be approximately $175,000. Public benefit from this alternative would be excellent since one of the buildings would be rehabilitated, and reused for park purposes by the City of Pleasant Grove. It is hoped that Reclamation, PRWUA, the City of Pleasant Grove, and the Pleasant Grove Certified Local Government could work as a team to rehabilitate the building for maximum benefit to the public through interpretative signing and photo displays, or other means of chronicling the history of the CCC Camp property, including the interrelationship of the CCC Camp workers and the City of Pleasant Grove during the late 1930's and early 1940's. A history detailing the use of the camp by troops during WW II will, undoubtedly, be included. A plan explaining the details of the building placement, stabilization, rehabilitation, planned use, and interpretive displays will be submitted for consultation to the SHPO and to the Advisory Council, if necessary, once it is developed prior to implementation.
