Description fpff<pfp<fff<tft(ttf(f(l(f(l(J UNSAFE OR HAZARDOUS CONDITION STANDARDS * REFERENCE COMMENTS The portable fire extinguisher, located in the heavy equipment storage bay by the exit door, had been discharged. 1910.157(0(4) Garage shed The overhead storage area in the coal shed was not posted with a load limit sign. 1910.22(d)(1) The requirement for posting load limits is to prevent overloading. The plastic drums located in the garage area, used to haul gasoline to work areas, are not DOT approved for flammable liquids. 1910.106(d)(2)(iii) Per DOT regulation, only approved drums can be used to haul gasoline. The plastic drums currently in use are not approved. Carpenter shed The fire extinguisher located in the carpenter shed was last inspected in 1978. 1910.157(e)(3) The upper blade guard on the Comet radial arm saw located in the carpenter shop did not completely enclose the upper portion of the blade down to a point that included the end of the saw arbor. Also, the sides of the lower exposed portion of the blade were not guarded to the full diameter of the blade by a device that would automatically adjust itself to the thickness of the stock and remain in contact with stock being cut to give the maximum protection possible for the operation being performed. 1910.213(h)(1) The exposed arbor end and nut are required to be guarded. In addition, the lower blade guard needs to freely adjust to enclose as much of the saw blade as possible during the use of the saw. The Comet radial arm saw, located in the carpenter shop, was not adjusted so that it would not pull beyond the end of the table. 1910.213(h)(3) The Comet radial arm saw was not installed in such a manner that the front end of the unit will be slightly higher than the rear, so as to cause the cutting head to return gently to the starting position when released by the operator. 1910.213 (h)(4) A radial arm saw is required to be set up so that it will automatically return to the back of the table when the saw is released. The circuit breakers located on the south wall of the carpenter shop were not marked to identify which circuits they controlled. 1910.303(f) Metropolitan shed Up to 5 containers of Magnacide H herbicide are stored in this shed. A Process safety management plan has not been written. 1910.119 This section of the standards applies to any use or storage of this product that exceeds 150 pounds. The electrical wiring and lights in the area where the Magnacide H herbicide is stored is not explosion proof as required by the label on the Magnacide. 1910.307(b) This is a label requirement of the Magnacide. The new electrical receptacles in the Metropolitan shed are not grounded. NEC 70-210-7(b)
