Show Consolidated Ute Agency, Ignacio, Colorado, August 11, 1924. Mr. E. Z. Black, Stockman, Blanding, Utah. My dear Mr. Black: Replying to your two letters of August 5th, I certainly appreciate your efforts to get me some fair exhibits and I also understand the difficulties you are up against in getting them from Indians that "no savy fair." I am sure, however, that you are doing your best and no man can do more. Send anything you can get, regardless of how small. If you can get any relics of Old Posey, it will be a good move. Regarding the powder and other tools you ask for, at present we have no available money for such purchases. We may be able to get some at a later date and, if so, will remember your request and try to get what is needed. I would keep the mattocks from Graham until they are needed, as I am of the opinion that they are just the remainder of our original order. You did not say how many there were, however, in the two shipments, so that I cannot tell for sure. Mr. McKean said that he spoke to you about tbe horse for Jack Ute when he was over and that Jack could not have one at this time-- that he would have to forget it. Very truly yours, Property Clerk |
