Show The Honorable The Secretary of the Interior. Sir: By Departmental order dated August 28, 1923 upon recommendation of this Office the Commissioner of the General Land Office was authorized and instructed to withhold from settlement, entry, or any form of disposal all undisposed of lands, surveyed or unsurveyed, in towiships 36, 37 and 38 S., R. 24 E., S. L. M. Utah, until otherwise ordered. The purpose of this temporary withdrawal as indicated in our letter addressed to the Department was to provide allotments to members of the Polk Band of Ute Indians residing in San Juan County. The records now show that the work of allottment was completed in June, 1924, and all necessary applications have been filed on behalf of the Indians for whose benefit the withdrawal was made. In view of this fact it is believed that the purpose of the order having been fulfilled it should now be revoked and it is so recommended. Respectfully , Commissioner |
