Show # 1046 Page 61 to do this; however, ( laughter) one of the things that ah- that we are, in many ways, I think neglected is the area of education, and ah- I'd like to see Legal Services Program work in such a way that you're educating the community like Ben Henley is saying. Then you don't have to look for a time two days before a hearing because because many of these cases will come out ah- truthfully and ah- I just think that ah- we're, in some way, missing the boat. I don't think Legal Services Program, generally, has turned that corner yet. I'm very concerned because of the fact that I don't think the DNA program in representing let's say one- hundred car dealers or one can represent a Navajo's car dealers on repossession - and an average of one- hundred per week. Well, how about let's say ten years from now if we don't bring car- dealerships into the reservation, and those car dealers to be owaad and be run by the Navajos themselves, so that we don't have to go to Flagstaff, ah- Farmington and Gallup to buy our cars. And I think Legal Services program on Indian Reservation has to ah-- turn the corner, where we have many young ah- American Indians who are beginning to graduate from law school, and ah- I think we are probably the only program who's willing to bend backwards and break the laws and- and ah-- break the rules, Washington's rules, to create some of these positions |
