Caption on Slide Wanli, Emperor of China, (born Zhu Yijun). Took throne at age 10. Buried in Ding Ling, which he began building at age 22 and completed at age 28, costing 8 million taels of silver.
Additional Information Image scanned from color slide. Note: "The Ming Dynasty Tombs (Míng shísān líng; literally "Thirteen Tombs of the Ming Dynasty") are located some 42 kilometers north-northwest of central Beijing. The site, located on the southern slope of Tianshou Mountain, was chosen based on feng shui principles by the third Ming Dynasty emperor Yongle (1402-1424), who moved the capital of China from Nanjing to its the present location in Beijing. From the Yongle Emperor onwards, 13 Ming Dynasty Emperors were buried in this area. The Xiaoling Tomb of the first Ming Emperor, Hongwu, is located near his capital Nanjing...Along with the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum of Nanjing and the Fuling Tomb of the Qing Dynasty in Shenyang, the Ming Dynasty Tombs north of Beijing were inscribed by UNESCO as part of the World Heritage Sites 'Imperial Tombs of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.'"--Wikipedia.
