Chie no Wa Tohroh, which is shaped like a ring game, is not really a lantern but more of a monument associated with Chionji and its Monju Bosatsu. Legend says that whoever passes through the monument will be bestowed with wisdom of Monju Bosatsu. Amanohashidate is a pine-covered sand spit whose name means "bridge to heaven." Image was scanned from color slide. Caption is from photographer's notes on slide. |
