Additional Information Generally, yachts and yacht races are more popular on the Pacific Ocean side, which is less wild and seasonable than Nihon Kai (Japan Sea) coast. Amanohashidate is a pine-covered sand spit whose name means "bridge to heaven." Image was scanned from color slide. Caption is from photographer's notes on slide.
