Additional Information Nihon Kai (Japan Sea) coast is an extensive area stretching from northeastern to southwestern parts of Honshuu (Main Island) of Japan, containing several wilderness areas as well as regions best known for spas. Amanohashidate is a pine-covered sand spit whose name means "bridge to heaven." Image was scanned from color slide. Caption is from photographer's notes on slide.
