Description Color rendering of the Coat of Arms for Salt Lake City. 21 cm X 26 cm. Depicts a rampant red bull and white unicorn surrounding a shield with symbolic crowns and a seagull and supported by a gold trumpet and banner with the motto, "This is the place." Registered by the International Academy of Heraldry, 1969. Adopted by the Salt Lake City Commission September 9, 1969. "Official Coat of Arms for Salt Lake City" document is a photocopy of the original, typed on a sheet illustrated with images of scenic views and enscribed, "Growing with the Great Intermountain West." Text details the symbolic meaning behind all the images of the coat of arms and is signed by City Historian, Newell G. Knight (1909-1979).
