Handley Population Data for Electoral District Delimitation

Update item information
Title Handley Population Data for Electoral District Delimitation
Subject CLA; Elections
Description Exhibit #52, CLA Final Report. The delimitation of electoral districts requires population data to ensure that districts are relatively equal in population or, in the case of multimember districts, that the ratio of constituents to representatives is relatively equal across all districts. In a relatively recent survey of delimitation practices, every country that delimited districts indicated that population equality was a criterion considered, and most indicated that it was the single most important delimitation requirement
