Description |
Color scanned image of Tapete - Spanish word, table decoration. Remembrance of Esmeralda's grandmother, Rosa Cordova Marroquin, who taught her mother Rosvita how to embroider. This type of embroidery is representative of Chiapas because of the style. It is done with silk thread on tulle. It is very traditional for the Chiapaneca dress. It comes from the Zoque culture. The Zoque would do it only on cotton but with the Spanish influence, they started using tulle. |
