Walk In Space

Etching with embossing, floating figure tethered to a space capsule above a blue field. One of South America's finest modern printmakers, Sergio Gonzalez Tornero was born in Santiago, Chile in 1927. He studied art in Chile and Brazil before finishing his education at the Slade School of Art in 1958 in London. He later moved to the United States (New York). His original etchings and aquatints have been the subject of over 44 one-man exhibitions in Chile, the United States, Canada, Italy, Germany and France. Public collections in France, England, Poland, Austria, Switzerland and Mexico all include examples of his etchings and engravings in their permanent collections. His art is also represented in both the Metropolitan Museum and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
