Title Simulations of input
Date 2003-08
Description My art is based on my dreams. By viewing my work you are experiencing simulations and reproductions of my dreams. My work is in paint, ceramics, and other mixed media. I use whatever media it takes to re-create the image I saw. I am an artist who uses signs, symbols and dreams to make decisions and get ideas. I solve problems through dreams and simulate those dreams as art. When I close my eyes a world of layered images appears. These images move and exist in odd color combinations, in a chaotic, yet organized manner. People, faces, and feelings combine into layered memories, which get translated into the piece of art. I make what I see when I close my eyes, and dream what I make when they are open. As a collector of dreams, the images I create are narrative simulations of those dreams. I create my images the way we build memories. Each new image is based on prior images. My work denies a beginning or end because of my process. I produce images quickly and with physicality. I embrace technology and the new. My intent is to create images that communicate to the viewer a feeling of escape and hope. I want my images to mingle and touch my viewer's memories and dreams.
