Description Emigration Canyon, 9 miles long & 2 miles wide, was decleared a National Historic Landmark in 1961 due to the historic trail forged throught it by the Donner-reed Party and later by Mormon pioneers who settled the Salt Lake Valley. This view, taken at the end of the canyon, looks west into the valley.
