Subject Apraxia
Description Apraxia of eyelid opening has primarily been described as bilateral loss of volitional ability to open the eyes at certain times and is previously known to be associated with neurodegenerative disease. Rarely it can occur in isolation and as an idiopathic phenomenon. Recently, a few cases have been reported of unilateral apraxia of eyelid opening only upon awakening from sleep, thought to be different than daytime apraxia of eyelid opening. Here we report an additional 11 patients with apraxia of eyelid opening upon awakening.
