Description Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML) is an infectious demyelinating disease of the brain caused by JC virus. Typically, the diagnosis of PML is established when JC virus DNA is detected in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of a susceptible individual with characteristic clinical and radiological findings. However, CSF-JC virus PCR testing can result in false negatives.
