Description L. 0., a 26 year old white female store manager was referred for evaluation of progressive esotropia in December, 1979. Her referring ophthalmologist noted the patient, at age 9, to have an asymptomatic esophoria of 4 at distance and at near. At 12 years of age, she developed myopia, without significant change in muscle balance. Intermittent horizontal diplopia developed at age 18, brought on by alcohol intake, driving, and close work.
