Description |
A 17 year old male involved in a motor vehicle accident in December, 1982, sustained multiple injuries including a fracture of the right femur, laceration of the right superonasal eyelid, and a right orbital roof fracture. Computerized tomography disclosed small bony fragments within the right frontal lobe. The patient underwent a right frontal craniotomy to remove sequestered bone fragments and repair a large dural tear. The extent of the dural tear could not be entirely visualized. Postoperatively a neuroophthalmologic examination was remarkable for the following: marked periorbital swelling and ecchymosis, proptosis, complete ophthalmoplegia on the right. The lid laceration was repaired at the time of craniotomy. The pupils, fundus, anterior segment were normal OD. The left eye was entirely normal. Corneal sensation was normal. There were no ocular or cranial bruits. |
