Description Blood flow characteristics of the intra-optic nerve central retinal artery were evaluated with color duplex Doppler ultrasonography. In this study we used color duplex Doppler to investigate the patterns of blood flow for normal human eyes and to test its reproducibility. We used a Quantum QAD 1- ultrasound machine with 7.5 MHz Phased Unear Array transducer. The patients were placed in a supine position for at least five minutes prior to Doppler ultrasonography. The ultrasound transducer was placed on the closed eye lid with acoustical coupling gel on the eye lid.
