Title Temporal Arteritis Presenting with a Horner's Syndrome and a Normal Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate
Creator Stearns, Michael Q; Rosenberg, Michael L
Subject Temporal Arteritis; Horner's Syndrome; Normal Erythrocyte Sedimentation; Miosis; Tonic Pupil
Description Temporal arteritis has rarely been reported to involve the pupil, with previous reports describing primarily miosis With a diminished light response or a tonic pupil. Despite the diffuse inflammation ofblood vessels associated with this condition, to our knowledge, a Homer's syndrome (including ptosis and miosis) has not been previously described. In this report, we present an unusual case of biopsy proven temporal arteritis which featured a Homer's syndrome, a lateral rectus palsy, and a normal erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR).
