Last year we described five patients with unexplained vision loss who exhibited indications of autoimmune involvement through their production of antibodies reactive with a small molecular weight ocular antigen. Continuing studies indicate this antigen has a relative mass of 22 kd and is located in both the retina and optic nerve. We have since encountered three more patients with mysterious vision loss who produce antibodies reactive with this novel antigen. |
