Title Optic Nerve Sheath Meningioma External Beam Irradiation: The Optimal Treatment for Patients with Useful Visual Function
Creator Stafford, Scott L
Subject Optic Nerve Sheath Meningioma; External beam radiation therapy; Daily stereotactic radiotherapy
Description Optic nerve sheath (ONS) meningioma is an uncommon location of meningioma. Management historically has been observation with surgery aftervision loss, aggressive resection, and in a limited number of tumors, irradiation has been utilized to preserve visual function. Involvement of the anterior visual pathway has been shown to be associated with a high risk of progression after resection and surgical management of orbital nerve sheath tumors is associated with poor visual outcome.
