Subject Hormonal Treatment
Description The treatment of optic nerve meningiomas has remained a topic of considerable controversy amongst neurosurgeons, ophthalmologists, and of course neuro-ophthalmologists. Neurosurgeons, probably influenced by the fact that surface cortex meningiomas are generally successfully resected, still often consider the optic nerve meningioma as suitable for a surgical cure. However, not withstanding a few case reports suggesting surgical successes, resection of optic nerve sheath meningiomas almost always leads to blindness.
