Title mfERG in Clinical Practice
Creator Randy H. Kardon, MD, PhD, Director of Neuro-Ophthalmology Services, Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, University of Iowa
Subject mfERG
Description The multifocal electroretinogram (mfERG) was introduced as a clinical test in 1995 and has gained acceptance as a means for obtaining an "ERG visual field" of the electrical response of the retina in different locations extending to about 25 degrees radius (similar to automated perimetry). It can be used to differentiate visual field loss due to disease of the retinal photoreceptors or bipolar cells from that due to optic nerve disease.
