Title |
Use of Optical Coherence Tomography to Correlate RNFL Measurements and Visual Function in Compressive Optic Neuropathies |

Subject |
Optical Coherence Tomography, Compressive Optic Neuropathies, Axon Loss, Visual Impairment, Predictive value |
Description |
Compressive lesions can cause permanent vision loss due to irreversible loss of axons in the afferent visual pathway. It is difficult to predict visual recovery or lack thereof from tests of visual function. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) can be used to quantify retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (RNFL) and predict the potential for visual recovery among patients. |
