Since its first description in the late 1800's, the term "retinal migraine" (RM) has been used to describe a multitude of monocular visual symptoms, including events without associated headache. Recent reviews have emphasized that permanent visual loss is quite common in this condition (Grosberg et al., Curr Pain Headache Report 2005;9: 268-271). The International Headache Society defines RM as at least two attacks of fully reversible monocular visual disturbance (positive or negative), associated with migraine headache within sixty minutes of the visual event. |
