Description History: A middle-aged man was referred from an emergency room with a tie rod from an automobile thrust into the superior left orbit. The rod was left in position until the location of penetration could be determined. Anatomy: Orbit; Cranial Fossa, Anterior; Clinical: Disease Diagnosis: Trauma. Etiology: Automobile accident. Neuroimaging: The skull x-ray, coronal type, the tie rod hooked through the superior orbit into the lower brain. Lateral view of the tip of the tie rod entering through the orbit into the anterior cranial fossa. Treatment: Surgical removal of tie rod.
